Kristin+Rob : Lake Placid Lodge Wedding Video

What are your wedding colors and/or themes?
Soft champagne, white, hints of gold and greenery.

What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
I wanted it to be classic and elegant, but also comfortable and relaxed. The lodge has so much character and is stunning on its own – I really just wanted to make it a little more romantic while keeping the lodge feel.

Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?
We mixed simple, classic elements like white roses, gold flatware, gold rimmed glasses, taper candles with gold handles with rustic/ “lodgy” elements: wooden mountain table numbers, gold antler place card holders, and the antler chandelier. We dressed up the antlers with white flowers and did a big flower installation on the main fireplace to get the super romantic feel. Leah is an artist – I was overwhelmed by her work. We did a mix of farm tables and tables with linens; the wedding party and head table were the big rustic farm tables which looked really special under the clear tent. The cake was designed to replicate the railings on the terraces of the lodge. Mary Ann did an incredible job.

Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
Not really, other than a pretty traditional ceremony. We did a first look which was fun, and helped us get to cocktail hour at a reasonable time! One of my bridesmaids, faye, gifted us a Koa wood bowl, palm leaves, and hawaiian water to do a traditional hawaiian blessing of the rings (we did this with her at her wedding back in 2013; it was our first trip together and the first time Rob met Faye).

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
We did a Welcome Party the night before at Top of the Park and a farewell brunch the day after at the lodge. Our guests really enjoyed having the time before the wedding to meet or catch up, and the brunch was a great opportunity to talk about how fun the wedding was and say goodbyes.

I can’t imagine what our wedding would have looked like without our planner, Elexis. There were so many things that I never would have thought of on my own – she really made sure every little detail was covered, down to putting slices of wedding cake in our mini fridge while we were dancing at the reception. We had the dream team of vendors – I know nothing about flowers or candles or table settings and Leah and Elexis were so patient and knowledgeable, everything came out better than I ever could have dreamed of. The time and effort and absolute love that Mary Ann (Fancy Cake Box) put into designing and creating our dream wedding cake was incredible. She was so sweet to work with and it was very clear all along how much she cared about her role in our wedding.

As for our amazing photography and videography team – I can’t say enough great things. I didn’t realize how much time I would be spending in such close contact with the photographers and videographers throughout my wedding day. We had the best time together – the guys quickly felt like those cool cousins that randomly show up at holidays with all the good stories. The weather was rainy and every now and then there would be a huge downpour and our outdoor ceremony was looking pretty bleak – but the fun, positive energy that they brought to the entire day was overwhelmingly wonderful. We are so grateful to have had such amazing people help us create our dream wedding!
