Vermont Weddings

Perry+Brandon : Hildene and Equinox Wedding Photo+Video

What are your wedding colors and/or themes?
Hildene is such an incredibly gorgeous place with the gardens and mountains, so I wanted to play up the natural beauty with my flowers and color scheme and really wanted a summer fun, Vermont feel. Our colors were white and green flowers with pops of blue. My bridesmaids, mom, and mother-in-law all wore navy. The men wore navy suits and light blue ties. Our flowers featured white garden roses, anemones, ranunculus, hydrangeas and lots of eucalyptus. Instead of having large table arrangements, we opted for multiple smaller arrangements with different variations of flowers. We wanted it to feel more casual and allow for people to talk across the table!

What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
Most of all we wanted to have fun and we wanted our guests to have fun! We love to dance at weddings, so the wedding band was a huge priority for us. Brandon’s parents were in charge of picking the wedding band and they put in a ton of research and even a quick flight to Boston to pick out our band. They were a huge hit, the band was lively and energetic and got onto the dance floor multiple times during the night to sing and dance with our guests!

We really wanted the whole weekend to feel cohesive and feel like a Vermont get away for our guests. We love Manchester and we love all of the activities that Manchester has to offer, hiking, exploring the beautiful nature, shopping, and great food! In our welcome guest bags (which my mom put together) we included Vermont maple candies, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies from a local bakery, and a custom illustrated map of our favorites places in Manchester. We wanted our guests to love Vermont as much as we do! We included some fun details throughout the weekend like the corn hole sets (with our wedding monogram), and a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cart at our rehearsal dinner welcome party.

Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?
Our color theme was very blue and white oriented in terms of what our wedding party wore and our florals. I gifted all of my bridesmaids white & blue pajama sets for getting ready, which ended up looking so cute in the photos! The table arrangements featured white flowers and greenery with pops of blue and the table clothes were white and we had a light blue accent napkin.

My amazing friend Peggy has an illustration business called Whodrew, so she illustrated our wedding crest which was on the corn hole board, custom water bottles in the welcome gift bags, and the stamps for our wedding invitation which was a nice cohesive element! Whodrew also designed floral illustrations that we featured on our ceremony program, table cards, and menu. The illustrations all featured whimsical white, green, and blue florals. Also, a family friend created our table board from scratch which was a special touch!

Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
The most special part of the wedding for me was that my Grandfather (my mothers father) officiated our ceremony. He did such an amazing job of making the ceremony feel personal and special and also featured some Jewish traditions as well. Each of our siblings read one of the Seven Blessings which was really special. Also, Brandon and I always knew that we wanted to write our own vows. This made the ceremony feel so emotional in the best ways!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
One thing that you may not be able to gather from the photos (and something that I definitely did not plan for) was that we had a massive storm that hit right during our cocktail hour. I’m talking 70 MPH winds, tables and glasses flying everywhere, and the tent almost blew away! Brandon and I were so caught up with being surrounded by our close friends and family, I don’t think we realized the severity of the storm until we heard everyone recounting it the next day! After the storm cleared up, the sky opened up with the most beautiful orange sunset and huge rainbow. Brandon and I danced in the sprinkling rain and we will always cherish this unique moment and the amazing photos that were captured! The weather definitely was not what we planned for, but it lead to everyone really just letting go and having the most fun time! We wouldn’t change a thing.
